These two five star underwater mountains get their names fom the red corals and the purple sea anemones that embellish the rocky area. This location is a magnet to a mulitude of pelagic fishes that are attracted to the reef Inhabitants. This superb trip is only 5'500 baht inc full rental gear / food & drink / dive leader
Hin Daeng
Translated mean "Red Rock"
Five hundred meters separates this site from Hin Muang breaking the water's surface slightly at low tide. Its name comes from the red dendronephthya soft corals covering its upper walls and slopes. Along the rock a series of walls with shelves at varying depths, titan trigger fish patrol the shallower waters!
For those who love wall diving this is Thailand’s best, the southern side descends almost straight down to beyond 60 meters, forming the most dramatic vertical drop off in Thai waters. Occasional schools of grey reef sharks patrol the deep blue, and frequent sightings of giant Manta Rays gracefully gliding around the reef are common. Closer to the top of the reef in the shallows a school of friendly Batfish accompany you on your safety stop.
Hin Muang
Translated into English means "Purple Rock", from the thick growth of purple soft coral that covers nearly every available surface. Starting at a depth of 8 meters this underwater pinnacle can be likened to the famous “Ayers Rock” in Australia. Beneath the surface a group of six pinnacles connected in depths ranging between 16m and 80m.
A carpet of Purple Sea Anemones at the top of the predominant pinnacle gives this rock it’s name This is one of the most beautiful areas of the dive site,
Moray eels are abundant here you can find them on the reef, large blue schools of pelagic fish such as Tuna, Barracuda and Trevally regularly raid the reef in quick bursts in search of prey .
Whale Sharks are regular visitors to this area, these beautiful giant creatures often allow divers to get close, providing magnificent photos and amazing dive memories.
These two dive sites are a must for any diver visiting Thailand
During 2003/4 this location was the number one dive site in Thailand for Whale Sharks and Manta Ray sightings.
