Then the Scuba Diver certification might just be for you.
This course requires less time than the Open Water Diver course and is normally split into three half day sessions.
At the end of the course you will receive your Scuba Diver certification which allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters with a Dive Professional.
The Scuba Diver certification can also be upgraded to Open Water 18 meter certification at any time in the future.

We take a maximum of 2 students to one instructor. During the course you will have use of a personal dive computer when diving and we use 5mm dive booties and open heel fins rather than the full foot fins to prevent the chaffing and blisters which would otherwise occur. We have long 3mm wetsuits as well as the standard shorty, which may be preferable for the if you get cold easily.

You will need a break of 24 hours between your last dive and flying to allow any accumulated nitrogen to leave your body.

This course takes as little as one and a half days, with the course normally running as follows,

  • Day 1- Meet at the shop to complete the course paperwork and then learn the basic theory in one of our Air Con classrooms.
  • After lunch gear up with your instructor and head down to the beach to learn your scuba skills in our shallow sandy confined water area.
  • Day 2 -Two open water dives on the fantastic Phi Phi reefs, these can be completed either in the morning 7.45am or in the afternoon 1.30pm.

Total cost including all equipment rental, lunch when diving, materials and certification – 7,900 Baht, *excludes national park fee



Open Water Diver

Start your underwater adventure with this two and half day course and become an Open Water diver! The Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

We take a maximum of 2 students to one instructor. During the course you will have use of a personal dive computer when diving and we use 5mm dive booties and open heel fins rather than the full foot fins to prevent the chaffing and blisters which would otherwise occur. Upon certification you will be a Open Water Diver, the certification is valid for life and will be able to dive independently everywhere in the world! So dive right in!

The course normally runs over three days

  • Day 1: Theory in the morning, Beach (shallow water) training in the afternoon.
  • Day 2: Two Open water dives in the morning, Theory in the afternoon or evening.
  • Day 3: Two more Open water dives.

At Barakuda we are happy to modify the schedule to fit in with your plans, for example dives can take place in the afternoon rather than the morning.The cost of the course per person is 12,900 Baht, this price includes all materials, certification, equipment rental, lunch when diving. *excludes national park fee.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your Instructor. This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving!

We take a maximum of 4 students to one instructor for this course. During the course you will have use of a personal dive computer when diving and we use 5mm dive booties and open heel fins rather than the full foot fins to prevent the chaffing and blisters which would otherwise occur. We have long 3mm wetsuits as well as the standard shorty, which may be preferable for the if you get cold easily. If you find that your dive time is shorter than your buddies or that you always use a lot of air then we have the bigger 15 liter tanks for you.

You will need a break of 24 hours between your last dive and flying to allow any accumulated nitrogen to leave your body.

You’ll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:

The Enriched Air Diver course is the most popular specialty scuba diving course, and it’s easy to see why. Scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives. In other words you can typically stay down longer and get back in the water sooner. No wonder many divers choose this as their very first specialty.

During the course you will have use of a personal dive computer when diving and we use 5mm dive booties and open heel fins rather than the full foot fins to prevent the chaffing and blisters which would otherwise occur. We have long 3mm wetsuits as well as the standard shorty, which may be preferable for the if you get cold easily. If you find that your dive time is shorter than your buddies or that you always use a lot of air then we have the bigger 15 liter tanks for you.

You have two great options with the Enriched Air Nitrox course at Barakuda.

  • The Dry course (4,900 Baht) – After studying the theory in our Air Conditioned classrooms and completing the knowledge reviews and exam we practice analyzing EAN tanks, filling in the EAN log and setting our dive computers to the correct percentage of oxygen.
    • The 2 dive course (5,900 Baht) -This course runs over two sessions. The first is as above for the dry course and this can happen in the morning, afternoon or evening. Then its time to pick your dive time either 7.45am or 1.30pm for two great dives with Nitrox.
    • The price includes all equipment rental, lunch when diving and certification, *excludes national park fee

      REACT RIGHT is SSI’s Emergency Training Program. It teaches you the “How-To” of First Aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen administration in diving emergencies as well as emergency assessment, so that any emergency situation can be evaluated properly.

      The course is about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and underwater before these problems escalate into a serious situation.

      Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving accidents. Through this course you will learn accident prevention, as well as how to handle problem situations if they occur.

      With your Rescue course you will be able to understand how to prevent problems and respond adequately to a dive emergency.

        To start the Stress and Rescue course you need to of completed at CPR/First Aid course within the last 24 months. If you completed the CPR/First Aid course with an organization other than SSI/PADI then please bring a copy of your certification with you.

        The course usually runs over three or four days, for example:

        • Day One: Theory in the morning followed by shallow water training in the afternoon
        • Day Two: Complete the Theory and final exam in the morning, after lunch more shallow water training
        • Day Three: Two dives putting into practice what you have learnt.

          Our philosophy is to provide the best possible training for all our students be they experiencing their first dives or training to becomes an instructor. What this means for the dive master candidates at Barakuda is that there are no time limits on the training or limits on the number of dives that you do during the course. For example if you join the team with 20 logged dives then you should expect to have 80-100 logged dives by the time you finish the divemaster course, we will not finish your course until we are happy to have you represent Barakuda as one of the team.

          What You Learn – During the Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems as well as help others improve their scuba. You put this knowledge into action through a structured internship or series of practical training exercises.
          As you progress through your Divemaster course, you’ll expand your diving knowledge, hone your skills and increase your confidence.           What You Can Teach
          After becoming certified as a Divemaster you will be authorized to:

        • Supervise both training and non-training-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives
        • Assist an instructor during the training sessions
        • Lead certified divers on dives.

          *As of July 2017 The Phi Phi National Park charges for scuba diving in the park, the first day of diving incurs a fee of 600 baht with a second or third day costing 200 baht per day.
