Divemaster course on Phi Phi Island
Our IDC staff have years of teaching experience! "Fun in the sun while
learning to be a Pro" training on Phi Phi is simply an excellent adventure;
our dive sites have the best marine life second only to the similan islands.
Our classrooms are all fitted with air-con so staying cool while it's 36c
outside is not a problem. Our dive center is located within a 90 second walk
from the main ferry terminal, our dive boats leave at 08:30 for the AM dives
and you will be in the water training by 09:00.
After your days training you can relax on the beaches or walk up to view
point and overlook the island,
Phi Phi has so much to offer, there is a large
range of cafes, bars, and restaurant’s all at your disposal.
Divemaster Role
First step on the professional level of the PADI System
of diver education
As a PADI Divemaster you'll be able to:
# Act as certified instructional assistant to PADI Instructors.
# Supervise participants in PADI experience programs for uncertified divers.
# Generally supervise both training and non training related diving activities
by planning, organizing and directing dives.
# Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
# Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program for certified divers.
Divemaster Course
To qualify for PADI Divemaster training
You will need to.
# Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or
equivalent).
# Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent).
# Have logged a minimum of 20 open water dives prior to entry into PADI
Divemaster training, and completed and logged a minimum of 60 open water
dives with experience in night, deep and navigation prior to certification
as a PADI Divemaster.
# Be at least 18 years old.
# Be in good physical condition for diving and submit a medical exam form
signed by a physician.
You'll complete three phases in the PADI Dive master program:
Waterman ship and skills assessment:
# Waterman ship and stamina
# General diving skills
Knowledge Development:
# Diving physics
# Diving physiology
# Diving skills and environment
# Supervising students in training
# Dive management and control
# Dive planning
# Emergency assistance plan for Diving emergencies in the local area
# Mapping a local open water site
Practical Application
This involves training activities using various structured training
sessions, simulated scenarios and internship sessions with actual
PADI programs. These training sessions enable you to gain practical
experience as an instructional assistant and a supervisor of open
water diving activities, both as a coordinator and as an underwater
guide.
Upon successfully completing the PADI Divemaster program,
you will receive a certification card and wall certificate stating
this rating. You'll also become a member of PADI and receive benefits,
including the ability to purchase professional liability insurance
(which may be required to conduct some activities). and access to the
PADI-Pro website which has pages of job adverts from all over the world.
The PADI Divemaster course takes a minimum of 3 weeks, we prefer
to teach it over 4 to 8 weeks . Depending on your previous experience.

Becoming a PROFESIONAL in the scuba world will open doors
for you all over the globe! Imaging waking up in the morning leaving your
condo / apartment walking down to the dive shop, the sun is out and your
going diving. This time you're diving as a Divemaster and you are leading
a group of certified divers, they have read about the dive location, spoken
to the shop staff, now they want to see what’s down there. As you
have dived these sites so many times you know where to go and what to look
for, thus giving your customers and excellent dive.
After the dive your customers will be chatting to you, describing
how they felt and what they saw, complimenting you on a cool dive and thanking
you for showing them such amazing marine life.
This is just a small example of what a PADI Divemaster does as a dive leader.
